Skelton Digital Postcards

As we are all nearing the completion of the 72 interviews we will be starting on the Digital Postcards events again. Having completed Moorsholm we will be concentrating on running a similar event in Skelton. Will keep you all posted on this one as we know that some of you would love to get involved in your own areas.

DVN Interviews

Steve and I are quite well known for getting about a bit and doing the interviews helped us to do this.
We have interviewed people from Skelton, an area that we lived in for a while before moving to Moorsholm. We have completed the interviews now in Skelton. We have helped in Skinningrove too and met some absolutely brilliant characters down there. That place has a real identity and true community spirit which we believe is unique to them. Thanks to Barry for his help and introductions there. Skinningrove is almost finished. And close to home we are helping Terry to complete Moorsholm too. This whole experience has been very enjoyable and we are looking forward to the next phase of the project.

Moorsholm Digital Postcards

Just got in from a great night in Moorsholm Memorial Hall showing photos of the village and inviting comments for the Digital Postcards.
More to follow.

Moorsholm Digital Postcards

We have just completed the first of 2 open nights in Moorsholm. We had apparently created quite a stir with our appearances all over the village and Steve taking pics. We have got some comments already and been promised some more as well as some old photos of Moorsholm. All in all it was a pleasant and enjoyable outing. Thanks to Terry for the use of his dining room in the Toad Hall Arms. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Moorsholm Digital Postcards

Steve is just putting the finishing touches and working his magic with the many photos he has taken of Moorsholm ready for the first of 2 open nights to be held in the village. Hope that some of you will come along and support us at either Toad Hall Arms, tonight Monday 14th or Memorial Hall Tuesday 15th. Look forward to seeing you there.

Brotton History Walk

On Monday Steve & I went for a walk in Brotton with a group from MIND at the kind invitation of Nick. The weather was kind to us as we set off at around 1pm. The walk was led by Michael Roe and we were guided through some of the historical sites there.
We saw some great things, met some really nice folk and Steve took lots of lovely pics some of which I’m sure you will be seeing on here very soon. Thanks to Nick and the folk from MIND for a very enjoyable afternoon.

Ready to go !

After spending a very productive day in Destinations I would like to echo Paul’s thoughts on the quality and attendance at the recent Interview Workshops and related subjects.
Carrie you did us proud and so many great ideas came out of todays sessions from the people who were there. Thank you all !

RIP Dr Ashok Kumar

Having recently met Dr Kumar delivering leaflets in Lingdale we were shocked to hear of his sudden death today. We found him to be most receptive, pleasant and genuinely interested in the DVN project. A real gentleman and a sad loss to all who knew and loved him. RIP Dr Ashok Kumar!

Another hard day “at the office”

On Friday some of us met in Destinations to discuss the interview schedule and consider the sort of questions to be asked.
Another helpful session with many useful things to come out of it. I particularly liked the tips we got from Carrie drawn from her many experiences of this. Can’t wait to give it a go ourselves so long as I don’t have to interview Carrie! :-)

Mapping Community Websites

Wanting to be really smart, Steve and I started today on the task of looking for community websites.
But rather than look at the normal things like areas eg Skelton, Brotton and the rest we decided to first tackle East Cleveland.
But what did we find? Well, after I dragged Steve away from what I considered to be irrelevant stuff, like who took what pics and where were they, we finally got down to it. Now, would you believe what happened? Every road led in some way or another to Steve T!!! :-)

His name was cropping up on every other site we visited and pics of him, Carrie and some of the researchers were there too! What busy folk you are !!!
