What is a node?

The Digital Villages Project aims to build a research and development network which spans Redcar and Cleveland and is anchored in key places or ‘nodes’ across the region. The use of the term ‘node’ is derived from the study of networks, where a node represents a connecting person or object in a network. In our project, a research node is a geographical place or point in the network where community partners and researchers are based or are attached to; and where the research is undertaken. We have identified six main nodes for the research, which you can read about in the following pages. However, the number of research nodes may increase as the network gets bigger or change location as the project develops.
